My Dad’s Current Condition 15

Celebrating Chinese New Year in hospital is never a good thing for some people. But for me, what most important is that we celebrated together. Though my dad did not give me “ang pow” this year, but I never mind it at all, as long as my dad could recover as soon as posible. My dad’s recovery would be the best “ang pow” for me this year.

Now they are testing my dad to suck the ice wrapped with cloth and see if my dad able to swallow the melted ice water. That was the next step. Further step is that they will be removing the tracheostomy tube IF only my dad could swallow water and also if the phlegms weren’t thick.

My dad started to get lazy to open his eye. Maybe he’s just tiring but these few days, I hardly see my dad open his eye. But at least my dad responded to me when I asked him something. Now my dad is eating porridge twice a day. It’s good that my dad’s stomach accepted it.

I’ve learned alot from the nurses in the morning. They taught me some extra tips on how to save cost. Things in the hospital were expensive such as diapers and drawsheets (it’s like a bedsheet and normally placed under patient’s buttocks) which they used them very often if they were dirty. And at 3am, I could see them resting but they will be awake if patients called them.

Read from the “feng shui” book which my mom bought, the book said that my dad’s luck is good this year. Everything else were good too like wealth, health, love and some others. With your supports and prayers, I believe my dad will make it.

I’ll be going to hospital again soon. And also thank you for supporting my diary sponsors from Nuffnang and Google Adsense. It’s not much but it helps a little. May God bless you all and to my family as well especially my dad. Thank you again and peace out.

RM52k++ had been used inside the 22 days and that is alot of money. The insurance’s coverage covers up to RM75k and also RM200 per day for the wards. That’s not really an issue for now, what most important I want now is to see my dad improving. Many relatives, dad’s colleagues and friends said that my dad looks better than before.

Yesterday at 8pm after my dad’s dinner, I couldn’t see my dad’s eye opening at all. So I thought he’s a sleep. Many relatives and friends came to see my dad. Many of them had not seen my dad open his left eye before. They came at the wrong timing but I appreciate for their attendance.

At 10pm they checked my dad’s blood pressure and pulse rate. They machine shows a low pulse rate. I panicked a while because I thought my dad were unconscious as my dad had not opened his eye. They rechecked the pulse rate using another machine specially for checking pulse rate. It shows a normal pulse rate. At 10.30pm my dad’s eye opened. Maybe he’s really tired. I was just scaring myself.

Talked to the head nurse in the morning and I seek some advise from her. Somethings have to be prepared at home when my dad has discharged. Most important thing is the air-bed. Some equipments to ease my dad’s hands and legs movement. And she asked me who will be taking care of my dad when my dad discharged. So I said that my mom will be taking care of my dad. She told me it wasn’t enough as my dad need close attention. Need at least 2 people to take care of my dad.

I’ll be staying overnight with my dad alone in the single bedded ward. I can see from my dad’s looks he feels more comfortable in the single bedded ward. Previously the 4 bedded ward were noisy after an Indian family came with a big group of his relatives in the evening. They were very noisy.

My dad has started eating blended porridge. Nurses will still be feeding my dad though the feeding tube. My cousin brother who just came back from China 2 days ago, bought lotion and also powder for my dad. The hospital did not provide them and that’s why my dad’s arm and legs were dry.

While staying overnight there, I can see my dad was very suffering. When they did the suction, my dad was chocked when they start sucking all the phlegms and salivas from the tracheotomy tube on the throat. Now I understand why my dad wanted to pull out the tube.

I will be going back to the hospital again later around 2pm. It will be a long trip as I still need to fetch my mom back home and then going back there again. It’s true what tomatoinc said on the previous article’s comment. But the nurses were kind and help me to monitor my dad. I’m just there to accompany my dad.

Chinese New Year is here. I hope everyone will have a happy and healthy Chinese New Year. I’m here wishing you Gong Xi Fa Chai. May God bless you and all.

My Dad’s Current Condition 12

Today my dad was breathing on his own without any usage of oxygen or what so ever. But then my dad was still on the tracheostomy tube. My dad was so naughty till he pulled out the feeding tube from his nose. Taking out is easy, installing it is hard. Took the nurses 15 minutes to install the tube.

They had been training my dad to sit on the chair today. My dad will be going thru some basic physiotherapy starting from yesterday. Physiotherapy is the head start of the recovery process. Some basics like sitting up, moving the hand, moving the eye and so on. Some advance physiotherapy like standing up, walking and so on.

I wonder when they are going to transfer my dad to the single bedded ward. It’s already pass Monday and the patient is not out yet. I’ve seen people coming in and out from the ward which my dad placed. Feels very uncomfortable for my dad as they were very noisy.

I’ve been going to many banks to pay my dad’s credit card bills and I’ve been paying them by cash. It’s dangerous for me to carry the money or go to the bank. Maybe I’ll be safer a little because I’m bigger in terms of size but who knows what the thieves will be like. Do you know that you can inform the police that you’re in danger from the ATM machine? If something happen and thieves wanted you to take out money from the ATM, just do what they say but when you’re entering the 6-digit password, type them in reverse order.

Example if your 6-digit password is 123456, type 654321 as your password and you’re able to access into your account but from that time you’ve already informed to the police. Just take out the money and give it to them to be safe as you won’t know what is going to happen to you. Try pretend you’re panic a little and take out the money slower so that the police force will be ready to catch the thieves.

Actually I have not tested it but many of my friends and relatives told me they heard before. Ofcourse the most important thing is you to be accompanied by someone when you’re taking cash out. Chinese New Year is coming soon and you ofcourse don’t want anything bad happen to you. Just be safe.

It’s better be safe than sorry. As Chinese New Year is coming, thieves knows that people are taking out money from the bank. From here I wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year Eve. God bless and peace out.

My dad’s condition is still normal. Able to breath, able to open his left eye and right arm were strong. It’s hard for me to find the doctor to explain to me the results from the MRI scan. Decided to call the doctor and asked her to explain through phone. Doctor said that the stroke effected the eye muscles and the arm only. Others were fine. All these can be recovered by doing physiotherapy.

They are going to put my dad on physiotherapy, slowly removing the tracheotomy tube from the throat, the feeding tube and also the tube for urination. They will slowly let my dad to sit up and also try and see whether my dad could control his urination. During the process of removing the tube from the throat, they will let my dad try to speak.

The single bedded ward is still not ready till now. My dad was temporary placed to a 4 bedded ward which me and my mom really dislike it. It looks so dark and the bed there was very old. We are very “pantang” or superstitious about numbers. Unfortunately, my dad were placed to bed number 4. 4 in Chinese means dead/die/death. And with the room number, it makes it even worse. The room number was 229 and my mom says the meaning were “ugly”, in Chinese it says “yong yi gau sei” or “easy to play until die” or something like that.

Today I helped my dad to pay up some of the the credit card bills. My dad has alot of credit cards and all were active. Paid 2 bank statements and 3 more to go. Now I understand how suffering it is to have so many credit card debts. I have to clear up all the bank statements quick before Chinese New Year as the due dates were close to it.

I may or may not be posting so often already as I may staying overnight with my dad when my dad transferred to single bedded ward. If so, I hope someone could borrow me a laptop there. But then the TV is provided and a sofa for me to sleep. It all depends and we will see how. Still have not decided yet. I hope they will not give my dad a ward number 4.

Chinese New Year is coming soon. I’ve already received my first “Ang Pow” or red packets from my aunt who has given the title Datin and my aunt who came all the way to visit my dad from my dad’s hometown Kampung Titi, Negeri Sembilan. I will be celebrating with my dad in hospital. As long as we stay together, we are already happy. I understand that during the Chinese New Year, it’s not good to go to the hospital (for those who are being superstitious). If really can’t make it, a call asking my dad’s condition will do.

Thanks for reading and for your supports. May God bless you all with good faith, hope, happiness and love. Thank you again and peace out.
